Yesterday in class I decided I'm scratching plans to have my birthday party on my birthday, and I'm going to the Kerrville Wine and Music festival over Labor Day weekend instead. I don't care if Big D won't come with me. Anyone else who has $50 to spare can come with. I'm gonna go Saturday, and I'm gonna pay an extra $5 for a pass to the Sunday wine seminar on Texas ports (sweet!). I'm not sure how lax they are about letting you buy a seminar ticket if you're almost 21. I mean, they let me go when I was 15, but I was with my mom. we'll see; I doubt anyone will go with me anyway.
But on a related note, my mom gave me all her wine glasses last time I was home. And she pulled out my wine glass from that festival, and said something about, "Before you were legal." And I sort of looked at her and said, "Uh, I'm still not legal." And she said, "Oh, right."
But now I'm much more excited about going to Kerrville than I am about actually turning 21.
I slept really shittily last night. And I had stupid dreams about the framers of the Constitution, I think. I remember powdered wigs. It probably had something to do with the fact that I have a history test today, and the fact that I spent most of yesterday studying my ass off for it. Which is funny. I almost never study, and I'm pretty sure I've avoided all reading assignments since I got to college. If I didn't avoid them, I certainly didn't finish them. To be honest, I did neglect to read the 30 pages on mercantilism, but only because it became apparent that it's not going to be a big part of the test.
My neck hurts.
And now I can spend this weekend reading Harry Potter.
Yes, get this: I have been so involved in studying I have chosen to read an extremely boring textbook over the new Harry Potter book.
Well, actually, I have to go back and read at least the last half of the fifth book, because I'm about 50 pages into the sixth, and I honestly have no idea what's going on. I have no idea who all was killed off in the last book. None. Forgotten the whole thing in wo years. Bugger.
My brother has already finished the sixth book. I said what I'd read of it had seemed incredibly bleak, and he said it doesn't get any better. Also that there's a whole lot of snogging in this one.
